Support for bold new film ideas

A path from idea to premiere.

The Black Flag Grant is PIFF's project support strand for filmmakers with bold new ideas. Selected projects may receive development support, mentoring, pitching opportunities, industry visibility and a path toward future screening or production.

01What it is

Project support for
bold new cinema.

The Black Flag Grant backs filmmakers developing strong new work in sign language cinema, Deaf-led film, visual storytelling and adjacent bold screen work. It is designed to move ambitious projects forward - from idea to pitch, from development to early production.

Per edition
Up to 10
film projects per festival

PIFF is a biennial festival - held every other year. A small, focused selection, curated for artistic risk, originality and clarity of vision.
