Built from the edge
of cinema.
PIFF is an international festival in Stockholm for sign language cinema, Deaf-led film and bold visual storytelling.
Not a niche.
A new centre.
PIFF is a serious international film festival rooted in sign language cinema and Deaf-led film, but built for filmmakers, film lovers, actors, producers, funders, broadcasters, artists, creative technologists, cultural institutions and international audiences.
All films at PIFF are treated as cinema. Films may include sound, music, sound design, dialogue, captions, sign language, spoken language and experimental visual language.
This is not a community event. Not a charity project. Not a generic accessibility festival. PIFF is a film festival with attitude, artistic ambition, industry relevance and cultural force.

A festival in four movements.
Screenings
Curated international films, documentaries, short films, AI motion shorts and new premieres.
The Shipyard
PIFF Originals, pitch sessions, rough cuts, commissions and new film development.
The Market
Talent discovery, partners, platforms, funders, technology, casting and industry meetings.
The Night
Opening night, gala, awards, performance, afterparty and the social engine of the festival.

Pirates of Cinema.
A new flag in the ground for filmmakers who refuse to wait for permission. The first edition celebrates work made on the edge - visually risky, politically alive, formally ambitious.
"PIFF was created to raise the bar. For too long, sign language cinema and Deaf-led film have been underfunded, underexposed and forced to fight for space. This festival is built to screen films, create new work and bring the right people into the same room."
